Breakfast recipe: Brain Food Granola

A good source of Minerals. Zinc, iron and magnesium are just some of the minerals found in nuts and seeds which affect energy production, our immune system and brain function. Natural oils in nuts and seeds are important sources of good fats for vegetarians and vegans.



  • 200g organic oats

  • 40 g pumpkin seeds

  • 40g sunflower seeds

  • 40g almonds

  • 40g pecans

  • 40g cashews

  • 20g sesame seeds

  • 20g chia seeds

  • 40g grated coconut

  • 30g coconut oil

  • 30g honey or agave syrup

  • 40 dried fruit such as cranberries, blueberries or dates

Mix the oats and seeds together in a large mixing bowl.

Gently heat the coconut oil and sweetener and pour over the bowl of dry ingredients to coat.

Cover an oven tray with greaseproof paper and lay the mixture on top up to two inches thick.


Bake in the oven at 220°C, after 10 mins stir the mixture and then bake for another 10 mins or until the mixture is golden brown. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your tray.

Once cooled, add the grated coconut and dried fruit.

Store in an airtight jar.
